A sales lifer, I’ve experienced different industries in various types of roles with too many managers to count. I’ve navigated different emotions of feeling ‘lucky’ to be in the position I was in, wanting to keep my head down and let my work speak for itself to knowing and owning my value. A lot of the learning I did was a mix of checking out best practices, trial and error, intense curiosity, being intentionally mindful and playing to my strengths.
Looking back at different points in my career, I would have been a different version of myself if I had inclusive leaders or a proper success plan from my company. Having someone in my corner that I could turn to between rounds would’ve helped expedite my wins and avoid some of the losses. Having leadership that was trained to cultivate and foster the success of each individual on the sales team would’ve helped the companies jump leaps and bounds.
Just under a decade into my sales career, I started seeking clarity on the next steps of my path. That clarity came on a tiny island in the middle of the Andaman Sea surrounded by greenery and the buzzing of thousands of cicadas. One simple, outside-the-box idea radically changed how I thought about my future and what I was capable of contributing. I had built a successful career for myself but there were exciting options out there for me that I wasn’t exploring. That idea moved me to put in the internal work and align myself with a different path that marries my passion for sales with my superpowers of elevating people. Misha Tamiko is rooted in helping salespeople step into their fullest potential and helping companies optimize the way they support their sales teams.
